waiting for you. Envy Wines, the latest wine project in Calistoga
is a joint venture of veteran Napa winemaker, Nils Venge and vintner
Mark Carter that opened to the public on March 20, 2007.
Planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petite Sirah, our intimate 11 acre vineyard allows us to focus on small production, estate grown wines. We recently bottled our very first white wine, a delicious Napa Valley ’06 Sauvignon Blanc, with a small production of 360 cases. Our first three red wines will be ready to go at the end of May including a luscious Cabernet Sauvignon, a provocative Petite Sirah and an exciting Meritage. Futures are available now through our website and in the tasting room.
We offer
two other labels in our tasting room, Vine Haven and Carter Cellars. Vine
Haven is a boutique label for Nils and can only be found in the
tasting room. Vine Haven includes
a Rose, Chardonnay and Merlot. All three are Oakville grown
fruit and have a unique style to them. The Rose is a very
light fun picnic wine made from 100% Merlot fruit. The Chardonnay
fills your mouth with vanilla and spices and finishes with a touch
of butterscotch. Rounding out this trio is a very approachable
Merlot with hints of licorice and coffee on the nose and bursts
in your mouth with blackberries, raspberries and cranberries.
Carter Cellars, Mark Carter’s wine, has recently been named one of “Napa’s 20 Rising Stars” and has also received high scores for both his Cabernet Sauvignon and the Merlot. Carter produces small, intimate vintages with outstanding fruit from some of the best vineyards in Napa Valley. His bold, voluptuous reds – not for the faint of heart – feature cedar, spice and non-stop deep dark stone fruits. Built to last by one of the best talents in winemaking, Nils Venge, these wines will drink great tonight and on your birthday 10 years from now. Nils and Mark welcome you into their tasting room to sit and talk with the friendly staff and enjoy our beautiful grounds with your own picnic lunch. Our peaceful outdoor setting with views of Mt. Saint Helena and the Mayacamas Mountains is perfect for relaxing.
