At Oakville Cross and Highway 29, the Oakville Grocery, on the National Register of Historic Places, has been continuously operating since the late 1880s. The denizens of the village of Oakville in those days would have been astonished to find their grocery stocked with today’s offerings of fresh foccacia and tapenade, hundreds of wines, and artisanal cheeses and olive oils, organic fruits and French pastries.
