In the town of Napa, the average temperature in October is 62 degrees, while the average high is 76 degrees and the average low temperature is 48 degrees. The average rainfall for October is 1.7 inches. Temperatures and rainfall in Yountville and Oakville, several miles north of Napa, would be roughly the same as in Napa.
In October, the average temperature in Calistoga is 62 degrees, the average high is 77, and the average low is 46 degrees. The average rainfall in Calistoga for October is 2.1 inches. These figures reflect a close approximation to those in St. Helena, just eight miles south of Calistoga.
Don’t be surprised if you experience an Indian summer during your October visit to Napa Valley. While the average high temperatures have cooled down from those in August, we usually have a period of very warm weather sometime in October—with temperatures in the 80’s.
What better way to experience Napa Valley in October than with a leisurely bike tour. There are places to rent bicycles or bring your mountain bike. There are some great trails from novice to expert and you will not be disappointed with the rewards of spectacular views and great temperate weather. Pack a picnic lunch, a light jacket and your camera and plan to stop along the way and enjoy this spectacular season!
