Don’t plan a visit to Calistoga without allowing ample time for shopping! Some of the most charming shops in the Napa Valley can be found right along Lincoln Avenue, Calistoga’s main street. Find, whimsical clocks, colorful and beautiful pottery, interesting Native American jewelry and adorable stuffed animals for the little ones. Much of the appeal of Lincoln Avenue is its diverse shopping opportunities.
There are two bookstores in Calistoga – one with a resident feline – and several clothing shops that are definitely out of the ordinary. Calistoga’s apparel shops generally offer hip, California-style gear, and there are clothing boutiques for all ages. Colorful garments are everywhere – and die-hard WOBs (wearers of black) will also be able to find their fill of cool clothing too. There are purveyors of Napa Valley wine and house wares, as well as some unique art galleries. And Calistoga is probably one of the few places in the world were you can observe live bees busy at work in the same building as a wine-tasting bar.
One of the nicest things about shopping in Calistoga is that all it takes is a good walk to get you around. Most of the shops, galleries and boutiques are within a three block area along Lincoln Avenue. And it’s convenient to stop for a bite to eat along the way; there are plenty of restaurants of all types dotting Lincoln Avenue.
One of the best things about shopping in Calistoga is that there are definitely good deals to be had. Many people are intimidated by the pricy reputation of the Napa Valley. While there are certainly shops that cater to a wealthier clientele, many shoppers find themselves pleasantly surprised by the deals to be found in Calistoga boutiques. Be sure to check the back of the stores for sale racks and last season’s merchandise. You can find unique stuff for great prices!
