Calistoga Natural Attractions: Napa Valley Picnic Suggestions
A few miles down the road, Old Bale Mill is also an excellent stop for picnicking and a healthy dose of local lore...they may even be actually milling that day. You will chance upon lots of history here in the Napa Valley, and always a friendly face to share the details.
You will find that many of the wineries offer picnic areas where you can sit and enjoy their wares as well as that loaf of artisan bread and the imported Brie you just purchased at Dean and DeLuca in St. Helena. Don't miss Beringer Wine Estates and Sterling Vineyards for great vistas to go with your boxed lunch.
South of St Helena is V.Sattui Winery, complete with deli and picnic facilities. (Daryl Sattui's soon to be completed "castle", located near Calistoga, will also boast many amenities and activities for the day traveler.)
A few miles down the way you will come upon the incomparable Oakville Grocery. An absolute must for wine and picnic fare. They offer some of the most unique and tasty tidbits in the valley. You will find so many goodies here that you'll hardly be able to wait until you arrive at your next destination.
