Calistoga Natural Attractions:
Enjoy a Napa Valley Picnic!

If ever there were a place that lends itself to picnicking, it is the Napa Valley. All year round, one can usually find the perfect spot on the perfect day. My favorite time of year is autumn. Harvest in the valley is not just about the crush...it is truly the most beautiful season. The views are spectacular and the weather is absolutely perfect. The days are cooler with a little nip in the air and just perfect for dining alfresco.

In and around Calistoga there are several locations to spread a blanket and open that long awaited bottle of Pinot!

Pioneer Park in the heart of Calistoga is the first and closest choice. Under the shade of towering redwoods and next to the beautiful Napa river, one can find a peaceful place to eat, nap and enjoy. On the other hand, on any given weekend, you may find an impromptu concert, dancing, a birthday party or an organized game of frisbee. Hometown charm at it's best!

On the north end of Calistoga, Chateau Montelena on Tubbs Lane offers it's beautiful grounds, complete with gazebos, a garden and their very own Jade Lake. The towering stone winery, a castle really, is the stunning backdrop to this beautiful estate.

One of Calistoga?s best kept secrets. Cuvaison winery also offers a picnic area with beautiful views of the western hills. It is just south of Calistoga on the Silverado Trail.

Farther down Highway 29 is Bothe State Park. This is an historic piece of land with beautiful hiking trails and day use picnic areas as well as camping facilities. Check out the little cemetery at the edge of the park and remember that survivors of the Donner Party actually located here in the 1800's.
